When this movie was announced a while back I had a conversation with a friend of mine basically saying that they should have made this movie 15 years ago when the show was not only extremely popular but at it's creative peak and that putting this movie out now seems a bit desperate and unnecessary. Though we concluded our talk with the following exchange:

Me: You're gonna go see though, right?
Friend: Of course.
Me: Yeah, me too.

Here's a reason to be optimistic though: maybe it's taken them this long to make a movie because Groening was holding out for a script that was absolutely perfect.

Vanity Fair (of all places) has a lot of Simpsons stuff this month including their list of the top ten episodes, an oral history of the show and interview with Conan O'Brien regarding his time as a writer for the show. If you're a Simpsons fan it's certainly worth checking out:

Holy s-hit! What a multi-talented fellow!! Shia LeBeouf should be writing articles on him!!

Note: the above might sound sarcastic but in seriousiness I'm quite impressed.

i went to the kwik-e-mart in burbank last week on the day it opened. there were news crews and a line that stretched around the block. it was quite fascinating. i have a ton of ugly pictures i hesitate to share because most of them dumb and nerdy, but then again i'm sure everyone's seen a million photos on flickr by now.

Yes, we're all very proud of him.  I think I'm finally going to make a posthumous myspace account for that band real soon.

I'm cautiously optimistic, too. Something about those trailers makes me think they were saving some of that old insane-o juice that seems to have run out in more recent seasons.

I wasn't too fired up about it after seeing the ATHF movie.  It seems like it would be hard to maintain that kind of humor (not that they're exactly the same) for over an hour.  Then I saw this:

now I'm fired up.
