I recently watched Resolution and the Endless and thought they had spooky moments.  Any other newer spooky movie recommendations for Halloween.

Not new but rarely seen in the English-speaking world, the 1985 Soviet partisan movie "Come and See" by Elem Klimov. Entire movie is seen from viewpoint of teenaged Belorussian* pro-Soviet partisan in what is now western Belarus during early 1943. It is a film about hiding, then witnessing horrendous acts done by the Germans and their ex-Soviet turncoat flunkies toward the  locals. Had Spielberg not been a sappy kids' filmmaker and instead an adult, "Schindler's List" would have looked a lot more like this film. This film will horrify if you haven't been numbed by decades of US media.

* That's how it was spelled (also "Byelorussian") in the 1850s (?) to 1992. Now he is a Belarusian. It means "White Russian", as in the soil; Ukraine was "Black Russia."

I did see that this year, forgot how I heard about it, but it's available on amazon prime.  Not really spooky, but nightmarish.

I was a member of the coolest video store in my metroplex years ago, so I got to see it in VHS quality, then DVD quality, and I would probably get it on Blu-Ray if it hit that. I was going to see it in the theater, then COVID closed it down.

It's set in the Two Berlins during the 1970s and it keeps a lot of the elements of the original, but it's longer and more involved.

Peter Watkins' nearly-15 hour nuclear weapon/military spending/poverty documentary "The Journey" ("Resan") is on YouTube.
