Omg Omg. It is all I can do not to look at that page mentioned.  In fact, today I am briefly breaking my self-imposed temporary internet leave of absence that I have been adhering to for a couple weeks so as to not have this book spoiled.

Obliviate!

I'm about 380 pages in, and I have one question: "Effing"? Is that really appropriate in a children's book?

wait unitl you get to page 736.

That's the page where Snape rapes Harmione.

(I'm sorry. I stole this joke from the Onion. I also apologize for the tasteless of my comment. So double apologies. I am so, so sorry.)

Yeah, I think she took liberties with the language she could use in this book. I think the one draw about the book was that it aged with the core readership of the first book and they could "grow older" with the characters.

That might be the case but I think she forgot somewhere along the way that in the end Harry Potter is a childrens book and after that original group have finished the series it will become a childrens book again. I can understand that certain things were unavoidable in the series that made it more mature than a normal kids book. But, the language was definitely not needed, and frankly felt gratuitous.

I was looking for a magical-themed version of Deadwood, language-wise, so of course I was disappointed.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Never read a Harry Potter book. Tried and couldn't do it. But the new movie is pretty sweet. Especially the appearance of Helena Bonham Carter.

Wait... whuuuuuuuuuut?

Amazingly they didn't even have to make her up.

I never read the books either, but I like the movies.  I am curious, are Herminey and the REdhead (Eff if I know how to spell their names or what they are...) locking braces or what?  In the last movie there was mad sexual tension, and now they seem to have some couple's rapport but there's no snogging.  Also, the new movie is notable for having a character that might as well not exist except that she kisses Potter and then rats out the gang and gets intentionally ignored for the rest of the movie (even though you find out later she was pretty much tortured into ratting them out, which actually kinda makes her even less interesting).

I heard the new Potter book is basically Tropic of Cancer with magic tricks.  Am I right?

Pretty much. The hardcore scenes don't bother me as much as the language though. Love can't be censored man. Even if it is pretty filthy love....

I think Harry needs to meet a nice girl. Someone that won't forget about him during the summer, or turn to the dark side(sorry sounded like star wars) but Harry needs to release some sexual frustration.
Wait... whuuuuuuuuuut?

As evidenced by his role in Equus.  And his guest stint on Extras.

Oh man, that Extras episode made me feel dirty. Like, Xtina Aguilera dirrrty, with extraneous r's and shit.

Not to say the very least about those Equus videos. Never has horsefucking and mutilation looked so appealing. Not even in Zoo. Okay, especially not in Zoo.

Haha I got to page 736 and cracked up.  It was all in caps too.

Other adult things:
Something along the lines of "Bellatrix looked at Voldemort like he was her lover" ???

And, not trying to give anything away...but was there an implied rape with one character?? What Rowling alluded to seemed to be more than just being beat up.
