Rushmore is one of my favorite movies ever, but at this point I just wish he'd open up his own line at Urban Outfitters and stop carping about dysfunctional family dynamics already.  He can put out some "curated" CD's on the side.  Just skip the filmmaking.  It's just an excuse for precious Criterion DVD packaging and eccentric costuming choices anyway.

Only the last two are directly about dysfunctional family dynamics right? I really don't want him to skip film making since three of his four movies are on my all-time favorite list. I just want him to avoid becoming Tim Burton predictable.

I agree with your larger point but vehemently disagree with this example.  I'd elaborate but I'm getting tired just thinking about it.

I'm glad you didn't bother to tire yourself out by elaborating, Dorvid, since I pulled that name out of the air mainly so Puccini wouldn't be lonely.  Just wanted to make that larger point.

Mr. Anderson made a universe for himself and now goes around exploring it.

Why not?

There's plenty of genre-hopping directors who suck it (go see Sunshine for a good example of another Danny Boyle total piece of shit, or follow the degradation of Nicholas Roeg (everything post Bad Timing)).

I don't mind giving Mr. Anderson a few hours of my life every few years for another slice of a universe that  part of me wouldn't mind living in.

Although I would like for him to do a sci-fi/spy movie and a monster movie.

I know that is a little negative and I am sorry. I just think Brody is overrated. watch him in The Village and tell me he doesn't blow.

He really was excellent in "The Pianist," and that was directed by kiddy-fiddler Polanski.

If only it were just "fiddling," alas.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!
