The First Time...........GOMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am posting this to see if anyone would like to talk about the first time they were GOMP on the show. I think that a lot of FOT's are a scared to call for the reason of being afraid of Tom. I myself have been Gomp and it was the first time I called. I was told to throw some water in my face and wake up, then Tom complained about how I sounded like I slowed down the show.

He was right But I called back and talked about the word foshizzle and the call went fine. This is in support to Erika from Baltimore's post about FOT's need to call in and support the show. Let's do it everybody call in.

I got GOMPED because I called to discuss how I was scarred by David Bowie's package in the movie Labyrinth.

Was one of you scared while the other one was scarred?  I think both apply.

I think you're right. His bulge (encased in gray tights) created a fine balance of intrigue, fear and disgust in my 9-year-old mind. I couldn't tear my eyes away from it and at the same time, it was the last thing I wanted to see at that age. I've discussed this with other ladies my own age and they felt the same way.

I think it was after I said, "Sorry to say, it's an L tonight" in chat. I called in at the end of the show and said, "W! It's a W!" and I got GOMPed. That was the Tom Waits Gas Station Guy Who Is Not The Leader show.

The second time I got GOMPed, it was for no discernible reason. I think it was a pretty good call, but he did not take kindly to my Jack Black gossip. Tommy, you can't spell The Best Show on WFMU without E!

I got GOMP'd one time because I was getting "too egghead".  I think I made a reference to conceptual artist Mike Kelley.  I had just started Grad School and was (a) getting too cocky at grad school, and (b) getting far too cocky on the phone with Tommy.  The GOMP was a necessary disciplinary tool which helped take me down a peg.  I got my act together and improved my calls thereafter.  Now I know to keep the egghead at bay.
