Matt Walsh curses for no particular reason followed by DJ Clue and Liquid Brooklyn's incredible set.

'takin' it a bit off course, but this was one of my favorite bits ever...I really miss Benjamin's slow-dragging-build-up-to-less-than-nothing calls; i can't imagine anyone else being able to pull that kinda thing off humorously.

Wait...if Matt Walsh was DJ Clue (or Liquid Brooklyn), who was the big Ian Roberts fan that called in to derail Matt Walsh's Hawaiian Special plug? I had assumed it was someone i didn't know of who collaborated on that, the DJ bit and some others.

enlightenment appreciated!

July 29, 2003 (around the 31 minute mark)
A caller named "Dave" (who sounds an awful lot like 'No-Smoking-Joe/Boring-Owen) calls in about Bob Hope. When asked by Tom what people will say about "Dave" after his death, he responds, "who the fuck is that guy".

WFMU DJ Bryce's friend Evan calls to set up a foosball date with Tom, then forgets to put a hyphen between s and hit.

July 17, 2001 - About 2 hours 3 minutes in:

A Caller calls up to talk about Jay to Brad Lester, and drops the brown word on the air. You can practically hear Tom Squirm when Brad repeats it immediately after.

January 14, 2003.  Alan Licht quotes Decline of Western Civilization, drops the F-bomb.

I'm not going to say what the F-bomb is.  I keep it clean.
Yeah.  Why?

on the older shows, when someone gets dumped you hear that flange effect for a few seconds
I always assumed that was the delay recharging.

You can create a similar effect using any number of "Time Stretch" type audio effects. Even the cheapest Boss sampler you can buy does this.  They basically chop the audio up into tiny pieces and play them back slightly slower than real time. Or a better way to put it is that there are tiny gaps in between the slices of (still full speed) audio. So the pitch isn't lowered (which is what would happen if you actually slowed down the audio) but over time the gaps add up, allowing the delay to build back up.

I've heard it get pretty bad when a show has to dump several times in a row (not necessarily Best Show, but I'm not naming other shows here).  I'm assuming if you dump before the delay is recharged, it will slow down more to try to recharge the next one faster?
