Morton Downey Jr.
« on: August 06, 2007, 12:45:20 PM »
With all the vitriol, bigotry and lies being spread by certain radio and TV talk show hosts and commentators nowadays, it makes me almost nostalgic for Morton Downey Jr.  Although I wasn't often able to watch his shows (nor did I even want to), now they seem downright amusing and quaint, and I long for the kinds of absurd brouhahas that were so often created on his show.  I didn't like him at the time.  But he seems like a such teddy bear compared to Michael Savage or Ann Coulter or Bill 0'Reilly.

Chris Elliot's sendups of Morton Downey Jr. on the old NBC-era Letterman shows ("The Chris Elliot Jr. Show") were so totally hilarious. I've got hundreds of hours of old Late Night shows on VHS, and just seeing Morton Downey Jr.'s name has given me the motivation to hunt down the Chris Elliot Jr. Show bits.

Is this why there was no podcast this week?
