Not a great time to be demand-y, I think.

word. I don't know the in's and out's if I'm stepping on someones toes

This is one of the main reasons I signed up here (to ask this).
Just thought I'd throw it out there.

Sorry, Ason. That was a perfetcly harmless question, I'm just pissed about this fish thing.

Anyway, I use a 20 dollar program called WireTap Pro to convert the archived shows into mp3s.
It's a tool for music thieves but I just use it so I can hear old Best Show episodes in the car.
It's Mac only but I'm sure there's a PC equivalent out there.

Hope that helps.

After downloading that software I am convinced even more that I would gladly pay someone for a dvd-r of MP3 archives.

Please message me privately if you have such a thing.

I believe that there are rights issues if the mp3's have music. Unless you mean somebody here doing it all hush hush and stuff.

I'd love it if the archives were all MP3. It would be great to be able to listen to shows from before I subscribed to the podcast in the car. It's the only way I'll ever catch up, and I would be game to help fund such a thing.

I could be totally wrong (or this could have totally changed at some point), but I'd heard a rumor a while back that all of the archives were stored as .mp3s somewhere on the WFMU site (which they use initially for the streaming .mp3s that are available the week of the show). Somewhere hidden from your view and mine. Which, if true, would seem to make it feasible and easy for WFMU to make .mp3 archives available to the general public, except for the music rights issues outlined above. So I'd love to see it, but it probably won't happen.

I think the whole reasoning behind them being in real media format is the size issues.  unless I'm mistaken, after the week of the show, the mp3 is deleted and the real audio is left in the archive.

House Arrest- I'm still havin' a time

I'm pretty sure that when I learned from Ken (in December 2005) how to download archived shows, just about all of 'em were available as mp3s.  Is it possible that during the great archive crisis this summer many of these were lost or at least have yet to be restored?

Do you remember how he told you to do it?
ripping it via a audio catch program is a major pain

[instructions removed by me]

I knew I might stepping on toes by posting the instructions on how to download archived shows, and so I have been reminded.  Thus they disappear.  I hope those who wanted them copied them when they could.
