OK, as per Erika's request, I'm moving whatever is left of the Rutgers discussion over here.
KickTheBobo: I also applied to Rutgers (and auditioned for Mason Gross). Got flat rejected at Mason Gross, wait-listed at Rutgers College, and got into Livingston. And now I teach there (and had a play up in a festival with the head of the Mason Gross MFA playwriting program last summer), so HA Rutgers! I mean, thanks for the benefits.
Sorry for bragging. I'm not actually an arrogant jerk, just a little bitter. In all fairness, though, my HS grades were pretty lousy.
Anyway, I wound up going to Montclair instead and then floundered around for about a decade with a near-useless BFA in theater (temping, waitering, the Fringe Festival, a couple of aborted independent film projects) and got an MFA from NYU, and then got the Rutgers gig. I don't usually advertise my dubious history viz. the institution, but I don't really keep it a secret either.
