FOT p*ong dessert tasting party
« on: September 06, 2007, 08:55:39 AM »
I am going to be in New York this October, and I would like to set up a nice tasting party at p*ong. It's $25 per person for three dessert courses or $35 for five cheese coures plus dessert, but I'm not sure if that includes drinks. Probably not!

If there's enough interest, I will reserve a table or two.

*The asterisk is not an AST* joke. It's just the restaurant's name. Honest!

I say that this would be a great opportunity to have the first official meeting of the FOTRKUF!

being a Child of Privilege™, please count me in tentatively.

$25 is not that much! Not by New York standards anyway. It costs more to go to the movies!

I totally agree, it is a paltry sum!

I hear that ever other wednesday, they make a tiramisu that is flavoured, ever so delicately, with the sweat of the proletariat. I hear it's to die for.

I think I would like to schedule this little dinner party on the 21st or the 22nd. I'm going to see what I can do about making a reservation for ten people. It can always be cancelled, I suppose!

Or we could celebrate Black Monday. Sure.

Edit: Okay, done. I booked 10 seats for Friday, Oct. 18th @ 11 (it closes at 1 am). There are only 16 seats in the whole restaurant. I think there's also bar seating, so if someone just wants to drop by for a drink, that's probably okay.  I can cut it down to five people if necessary. Please RSVP via private message. Also, if this is a bad time for you, please let me know and I will do my best to change it and accomodate everyone's needs.

And yes, I'm aware, not one person has said, "Yes, I will have dessert with you, and I will not flake out. You can count on me!" I'm trying to keep it posi.

Bobo, don't knock proletariat sweat until you've licked it off of my nipple after a long day of work in the fields.  It's best if I've brought you some iced mint tea to wash it down.

Can I be put down as a "maybe?"  Friday nights are generally tough for me.  Also, my play has tech rehearsal that night, which I have no intention of being anywhere near, but you know, proletarian cred and all.

Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I can always call back and switch nights to, say, Sunday the 21st (which would be preferable for me). Keep in mind, the tasting is at 11 pm. Will your rehearsal go on 'til then?

Come on, guys, delicious sweets! For a not bad price! Plus cocktails! Everywhere like such as! Appletinis!

I and my tiny phone shall be in attendance, so we can all make prank calls to Sarah. Free long distance, how I love thee.

Sunday the 21st would actually work a lot better for me.  I'd probably have slunk out by 11 while everyone else is working (it's our only tech day and the show is completely insane, so it's likely to go all night), but it's more like preserving what's left of my weekend nights so that I still have a marriage when this is all over.  My wife would probably like to come, once she got over her initial confusion as to who the hell all these new people were and Friends of who and message boards what.  She hates the internet but she likes dessert.

But the good news is, Saturday the 20th is the invited dress rehearsal for the play, and previews start Monday.  I can definitely invite whichever FOTs want to come to the dress, and I don't know how many comps the producers will give me (I'm planning on handing them out like a drunken sailor if I can) but I bet I can get a lot of youse into previews if you want.

I would much rather go to that small bagel place by the ninth street station that sells this amazing grilled chicken and bean sandwich for like $5.25.

I'll probably be there after the record fair for at least two of the days if anyone is interested. It's close to a really good falafel place too.

I'm not a chicken,  you're a turkey.

I will probably have lunch at the NC Hwy 54 Arby's sometime in the month of October if any FOTs want to join me.  I will buy a Beef n' Cheddar for the first one to show up.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

No hijacking my thread, you plebes!

Also, if we're doing in Sunday on the 21st, we're going to have to do it at 9 pm at the latest, as they close at 11 on Sundays. I'll see what I can do about rescheduling tomorrow morning.

I plan to drink at least one $14 cocktail.

PS: Omar, if you can make a special trip up to NYC, I'll reserve a seat just for you! Say the word, my fellow Top Chef FANATIC. I believe a couple of said $14 cocktails are topped with FOAMS. You heard me right! Foams!
