What are "pro-"ana" websites"?
Pro-anorexia websites, which are mostly livejournal communities. I think it's a shame that livejournal doesn't shut that site down, especially since simply looking at other girls that look like Christian Bale in the Machinist exacerbates these poor girls' outlook. One of the downfalls of in-patient group therapy for anorexics is that being around other bony broads only makes these girls want to starve themselves
more, and that's a HUGE roadblock in the recovery process. I say "girls," by the way, because people who post on such websites are primarily girls. They post pictures of their favorite models for "thinspiration," and they take pictures of themselves when they feel really happy about how they look (i.e., exposed clavicles, ribs, stick arms and legs...)
It's sad.
Edit: I searched lj for "pro-ana" interests. 329 communities. The subtitle for _thinspire: "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." Oh, and someone posted some pictures of Bettie Page, Rita Hayworth, Betty Grable, Thora Birch, and Scarlett Johannssen. The comments?
