I saw Bill Hader do a James Mason impression on a talk show one time that made me laugh for days. I don't watch it, but if he isn't doing any funny James Mason sketches on SNL, he really should be.

Jon Hamm's James Mason was pretty good.

It is nice for being able to watch them but streaming video kind of takes away from the Criterion treatment when it comes to audio and video.

It's still streaming quality- I have a 360 with instant streaming and there is a very noticable difference btw. the DVD's and streaming. First, and this doesn't apply to every Criterion but a lot are in 5.1 sound which Netflix instant watch doesn't support because of the codecs. Second, streaming quality is almost always going to be a degradation of the original source. It is cool that all these movies are available to just watch, but one of the big reasons you get Criterions is for the quality of the audio and video and a lot of that is lost in the transfer to a different streaming codec.

List of 35 Criterion films streaming on Netflix, in case you're bored during the holidays.  I'm telling you, CRIA CUERVOS is one of the most dead-on films about childhood I've seen.

EDIT: Just noticed some others aren't listed there: Spirit of the Beehive, Grey Gardens, etc...

Much good stuff on there. Closely Watched Trains is probably top 3 of all time for me.

You can watch about anything Criterion has released at the forum The Auteurs but that does cost up to 5 bucks per viewing, pretty awesome quality though.

You know, I watched a little bit of a Criterion on my 360 w/Netflix and it's much better quality than every other standard definition movie that's streaming. I take my concerns back, and now I see that the HD content is being added as well like Last Emperor.

Looking forward to Dillinger is Dead but don't know what's up w/ that cover.  I really like the theatrical re-release poster.

April's releases have been announced as well.
