50% off sale starting soon on criterion.com for about 13-14 hours in celebration of becoming sufficiently popular on Facebook.

When exactly?  And where's the dirt? I don't see nothin' on the site.

Criterion sure know how to pick the right ones, don't they?

Still waiting on those new Beavis & Butt-head episodes to start.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Interesting tidbits from a post by "Harmonov" on the Criterion forum.  He talked to Jonathan Sehring , IFC President of Entertainment, at a screening of Werner Herzog's Cave of Forgotten Dreams.

-  Confirmed Criterion will be releasing Pina, a three dimensional dance documentary by the human boy named "Wim Wenders"

- He hopes that they will be releasing Cave of Forgotten Dreams, but Criterion's Peter Becker has "balked at it."

- Certified Copy will not be released by Criterion...at least at this time. Becker considers it "minor Kiarostami."

I find it hard to believe that Becker would say that.

- Errol Morris's Gates of Heaven, Vernon, Florida, and The Thin Blue Line are confirmed. Tabloid is a possibility.

- Lena Dunham's Tiny Furniture (obviously this will cause a stir among the Criterion nerds; I welcome it)

- Chris Nolan's Following and Cristian Mungiu's 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days in the Life Of... are still in the works.

I agree w/ Omar that the Kiarostami quote sounds highly unlikely, and not just because I loved Certified Copy.

I hope some of their recent additions to Hulu make it to disc sooner rather than later:

Mizoguchi's The 47 Ronin
Oshima's Cruel Story of Youth
Bresson's L'Argent
Resnick's Cabin Boy

I think that last one may have been in the regular movie secition, actually.

For those who are interested but haven't wanted to spend the money, Amazon has the blu ray version of the Criterion BBS box set America Lost and Found on sale for $67. I think the price is only good through the end of today, so grab it now if you're interested.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

i can't

That's the one I can't wrap my head around. I mean that would be one of the funniest choices in the whole Criterion Collection as a joke, but that someone (assuming it's real) actually did it...
