So how does everyone feel about this?
Personally I don't care what he does in the privacy of his own home but I do wonder if he should be around impressionable young men. I mean what's to stop him using magic and casting gay spells and stuff.

So does Dumbledore's Army have a don't ask-don't tell policy?

It certainly gives those wacky Christians who hate Harry Potter another reason to say the books are the devils work.

I'm currently resisting the incredibly dorky urge to pull out my Harry Potter books and start searching for "hints" about Dumbledore's sexuality.

I'm sure Rowling is just laying the groundwork for magic-themed senior citizen gay erotica, in case her next non-Potter book tanks.

The thing is, why is she saying this now? She managed to write seven books without mentioning Dumbledore's sexuality then suddenly, "Oh he's gay". The nearest she got to actually characterising him as gay was objecting to a reference of a lost female love in one of the movies.
I'm guessing she didn't want to do anything to further hurt her bible belt book sales and now that's all done with she could do with the publicity.

I find the announcement pointless and annoying.  Unless she is planning to pursue Dumbledore's sexuality (post mortem) in future books,* why bring it up at all?  Is she so desperate for attention?  If so, just how much attention does this woman need?

*And I hope she isn't.

I'm surprised people only started making fun of that guy after Dumbledore was outed.
