Easy charity for vocabularists

There's a vocabulary game at Free Rice. Every time you get the correct answer, they donate 10 grains of rice through the United Nations.  According to Snopes, it's legitimate. Playing the game increases the number of hits the site gets, which increases advertising revenue from people with ads on the site.

Fun for carnivores and vegans alike!

Associate casually?  I believe it's also the brand name of a cookie of some sort in England.

And, yeah, I know:  10 grains of rice for each correct answer seems like nothing.  But if you look at the totals that supposedly have been donated thus far, you can see it all adds up.  Assuming, of course, that it isn't a scam of some sort after all.

I just like testing my vocabulary.

i got to 1230 grains of rice before i quit to do something else.  it's a fun game that makes you feel sort of good.  thanks for bringing it to attention.

Speaking of biscuits, I just got a packet of plain chocolate digestives.  Tasty.  Now if I could just find me some Jaffa Cakes.  Unfortunately, my source doesn't carry them.

What kind of levels are people reaching? I'm peaking at 45. Every so often I get a word where at least two of the answers seem equally likely. Then it's a gamble.

Note it's a huge advantage to also speak a latin language like French or Italian. A lot of the words I wouldn't have gotten if it weren't so similar to a french word.

Hobnobs are the greatest. I don't know how anyone can finish a pack of Jaffa Cakes though. Chocolate and biscuit combined overly sweet orange jelly is only tolerable in small quantities.

Oh, I'm sure Jaffa Cakes are disgusting (although a homemade version might be good).  I'd just like to try 'em, particularly since I'm a fan of chocolate and orange, however much that disgusts Bobo and others.

So far my record on Free Rice is 50 after only 460 grains.  I intend to try to improve on that, but it's unfortunate that the better one does, the less one gives.

Got up to level 47...then boom, I started hitting my sophmore slump. I ought to call it a day.

For the record, I do enjoy a Terry's chocolate orange come Christmas time. I'm not against the taste. I just find Jaffa Cakes a bit too sweet. I'd see the jumbo packs at grocery stores and marvel that people could eat that many.
