Nudity at TL/Rx show
« on: December 06, 2007, 05:12:02 PM »
You NY guys is so krazy!

Nice guy Ted Leo got a bit more — or was it less? — than he bargained for at his Music Hall of Williamsburg show last night. It all started as the Pharmacists launched into “Colleen,” and a fan threw a shawl up onstage. (“Is this a smock?“ Leo asked. “Should I do watercolors?”) And then things got significantly more naked. Leo noticed a guy in the crowd with no shirt on. Fair enough. But when the singer mentioned the words “New” and “Jersey,” and the dude lit for the stage, where he was cordially offered a tambourine. Pounding away, he missed an offer to harmonize with Leo — and instead, like a rapper making it rain, tossed the money from his wallet into the crowd. And then took off his pants. It was only when he started beating his head with a microphone that security came to remove him — and he removed his boxers. Which also got tossed in the crowd. “That turned dark,” Leo observed dryly. We say that it wasn't dark enough … inside the venue, that is. —Michael D. Ayers

Oh man, first Koo Koo Crazy Dana, now this dude? Poor Teddy Rockstar.

Note: Please observe the disapproving look on Tom's face. You can view said picture of The Kid and also Crazy Dana peeing at said link. I wouldn't be surprised if Crazy Dana was just out of the frame doing something ridiculous -- hence, The Kid's disapproval. Don't say I didn't warn you about the golden shower pic.

Since a guy is the culprit in the first post, perhaps it's more reasonable to conclude that representatives of both sexes appear to be going wild (and, in fact, the male seems to have gone a tad wilder than the female).  Whether a larger percentage of them are going wild now than did in the past or whether this just seems to be the case because it's so easy for examples of said wildness to be widely publicized is hard to determine.

I think there's a name for this new phenomenon.  It's called "Being an Alcoholic".

When you have a localized nexus of miscreants such as Williamsburg, you'll see this kind of behavior.  It's simple munchonomics.

I can attest to the fact that at the show the most ridiculous of all people was the guy dancing near me with a ridiculous outfit and doing what could be best (and inadequately) described as "air rock orchestra conducting" , closely followed by the couple next to him doing hula-hoop dancing. Like Olympic gymnast free program dancing. But at the Hippie Olympics.

That picture of the Kid's disapproval is priceless, and indicative of my feeling about most of my neighborhood. It even took a moment for me to find him because everyone in the front is squealing with joy.

To be fair, Ms. Cokane is apparently a real life friend of Tom. I don't know who brought Crazy Dana to her farewell party, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't invited. If you read the content of the entries in those two blogs, they do not approve of Crazy Dana's antics.

I saw them the night before this in Williamsburg.  Ted killed it.  Does anyone know what the song before Sons of Cain was and/or the last  song in the second encore?  They were awesome, but I have no clue what they were.

Pretty sure that's Colleen Kane who did a listener hour on July 22, 2006. She was the editor of Playgirl. Ben Kharakh/Keith Whitener interviewed her in Gothamist back in August.
"Alright, well, for the sake of this conversation, let's say the book does not exist."

Sounds like the people at the Morrissey show I went to in the late 90s.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

can we all agree that while female nudity is always appropriate, male nudity is NEVER appropriate?

Wheelies- I'm havin' a time
Headlocks- I'm havin' a time
Drunk Tank- not so much a time
