Digital cameras
« on: December 14, 2007, 02:50:49 AM »
I'm looking at getting a digital camera in the 150-250 dollar range. Any suggestions? The Canon Power shots seems to get good reviews. Am I missing out on anything by not getting in the next price range? All I really want is pictures that are crystal clear and a little zoom. I don't want to spend that much money and have my 35mm take better pictures.

I like my Panasonic FX-10 (mine is in PINK). It's really small and lightweight, and it takes great pictures.

I looooove my Olympus!

Check out this one...

If you bought that and a nice sized memory card (a must) you'd come in at just under two-hundred bucks.

What's a "nice-sized memory card"?  (I'm thinking of getting one of them there newfangled contraptions sometime soon myself.)

It depends on how many megapixels each picture is. I have a 7 megapixel camera (same as the one I suggested above) and I like to travel and take loads (i.e. 50+) of pictures without having to clear off the camera or reduce picture size.

I think I got a 2Gig memory card. It cost somewhere around 60 bucks.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy this camera within the next week:

It gets pretty good reviews, and having the 10X zoom is great. It currently is offered with a 2 GB SD card and rechargeable batteries and charger included for $190.

I recently got one of these:

Sony DSC H-7

It's a bit more expensive than what you ask for, about $300. I absolutely suck at photography, but this thing helps me cheat a little bit. Easy to use for a newbie, lots of nice features for an experienced user. Good 15x optical zoom. 8.1 mega pixels. It's what they call a bridge camera, apparently because it's not exactly a pocket-sized digicam, and not by definition a digital SLR. Standard memory card is 2Gb, which holds more than 200 images at the default setting.

And it looks "pro".  8)

Who's given this good reviews? That's seems to be exactly what I'm looking for.

Hmm...a lot of people are saying on Newegg that indoor pictures come out grainy...that would be a problem.

That looks really nice too. I want something with a nice zoom on it and I don't mind my camera not being pocket-size. I rarely lug around a camera because I hate being "that guy". I just want top quality pictures when I need to take them.

Here's the main review I was referring to:

I ordered that FujiFilm camera last week and it arrived on Monday. Here are the results of my first real usage of it, in case you're still undecided. So far, I like it a lot.

(By the way, these were taken indoors -- obviously -- with no flash. I'm sure the focus would have been better had I used the flash.)

Those look good for not using flash. I'm definitely going to buy that one but I'm waiting until after Christmas. I think that deal goes until New Years Eve.
