Has anyone out there had this delicacy?  I just learned about it yesterday, and I'm intrigued.  I've found out a lot online, but a review by a FOT would be welcome.  I may make one myself, but I'd like to hear about the real thing, and it's unlikely that a Black Muslim will appear on a Lubec street corner hawking his tasty wares.

I've had the fabled bean pie, but not in... probably DEFINITELY (fixed - ed.) more than a decade.  I remember it tasting like the kind of Asian desert sweet bean things - like, it's sweet, but it's still got the consistency and flavor of mashed beans.  I can get into that, personally, so I kinda liked it!

Now write me a receipt so I can tip on outta here...

I thought you might be one of the people who'd had it, TL, though, as you say, not recently, since it's most definitely not vegan (not only eggs and milk but butter!).  It sounds interesting, especially for breakfast.  I talked to my sister about it this morning, and she's already got some navy beans a-soaking.

This is a great picture of a guy rushing to deliver one--in Philadelphia, no less.  Somehow, though, I doubt the Ziegler family are fans.

This sounds good (and cheap, which is always a plus). I'm going to try making some tomorrow.
