I get the unhappy feeling Supercaller Paycheque is, like fellow Canadian and 2006 American League Most Valuable Player Justin Morneau, going to be unfairly maligned for his triumph.

I missed 95% of tonight's show - can we get some kind of recap on who won what?

BEST CALLER - Paycheck
WORST CALLER - Jesse Thorn
BEST GOMP - Hesh Rope-a-Dope
BEST GUEST - Teddy Rockstar
BEST BEST SHOW RECAPPER - Omar
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR - Eddie
BEST/MOST VIOLENT THREAT AGAINST TOM - Kip Palfner (this could go to Gene Simmons, contingent upon Tom's receiving a $2.5 million payment from Gene's petty cash fund aka wallet)

SADDEST CALLER
MOST PATHETIC CALLER
MOST DELUSIONAL CALLER
I can't remember who won what here, but Spike, Hesh, and Clark were the winners, I think.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

It's a Lee Marvin party!

I'm pretty sure Hesh = saddest, Spike = most pathetic and Clark = most delusional. Could be the vicey-versey for Spike and Clark though.

I would like to announce one award that I didn't give because I ran out of time.

MASTEROFSPARKS gets the Best Show Awards Helper Award. Without his super-hard work we would not have had all those clips and whatnot tonight.

Thank you, MoS! I will thank you and award you on the air properly next week.

Tom.

I'm glad Paycheck won; I've always thought he should call in more often. Plus, he pays an international fee just to call in.

Would it be creepy if I looped Tom saying "the one and only Dooorvid" for my ring tone?*

What a great show; jam-packed with legends, the biggest one being OMAR!  That's going to be one Charlie Kaufman-y Recap.
Tom forgot to give himself the Tom Sawyer thing, though.  I hope that will be re-visited soon.

*Yes it would! I'm not going to do that!

That was an incredible show. I, for one, think Paycheck, as the dean of Supercallers, is a great choice for caller of the year.

I do want to come to the defense of Spike, a little. Despite the fact that I maligned him on the show as an "unsavory" character, I don't see how you can call him the worst caller as long as James roams free. Spike, in the face of withering (and perhaps, deserved) rough treatment at the hands of Tom, gathers up the intestinal fortitude to call up week after week. Most callers in his situation would have tucked tail between legs (yes, I feel like he probably has one) and fade away, never to be heard from again. But Spike's recurring calls serve a very important purpose on the show; while some argue that he is the worst call, from my perspective he is one of Tom's very best foils, and that creates enjoyment for the masses. That could NEVER be said for James, who is, frankly, a punk.

Hell, I would break bread with Spike, as long as it wasn't at his home, and I wasn't shackled. I hope his recent real-life outing doesn't drive him away; the pest you know is usually better than the pest you don't, and there's no way to know what kind of vermin would sweep in to fill the void his continuing absence would create.

I'm sorry, by "hang tight" I meant, "wait silently"

How about "give up"?

Re Spike, of course he isn't the worst caller.  I just find him boring; Tom's responses to him, however, are not.

And re Paycheque, I don't think any of the other nominees are ungracious enough to begrudge him his victory, and I would hope the FOT at large would follow their example.  Besides, he does have considerable seniority, so at the very least his consistency over the years deserved recognition.  All the other supercallers, super though they may be, are youngsters by comparison.

Poor Jesse Thorn. He sounded hurt about his award last night.

Yes!
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.
