I went for the early shows   :-X

That was a really sad moment when Hesh said that.  I felt kinda bad for the guy.

Do you guys remember that ghoulish ambulance driver guy who called in to complain about non-English-speaking, injured people? That guy almost makes my Worst short-list.

Spike: I always forget his name.
Tom: Ricky Gervais.
Spike: No, the American version of it.
Tom: Oh, okay, yeah, that guy is …
Spike: The 40-Year-Old Virgin, that guy.
Tom: Yeah, Stephen Colbert.
Spike: No. His name is Steve, but that’s not his last name.
Tom: Steve …
Spike: The 40-Year-Old Virgin, but you know who I mean.
Tom: Ah, Steve Richards.
Spike: No.
Tom: No?
Spike: Carol? Carell?
Tom: Carol Stevens?
Spike: No, not Cat Stevens.
Tom: I didn’t say Cat Stevens. I said Carroll Stevens.
Spike: Well, I never heard of her.
Tom: Him. Like Carroll O’Connor.
Spike: I’ve heard of Caroll O’Connor, but I never heard of Carroll …
Tom: He was not in Little Miss Sunshine, Spike. You are mistaken. Carroll O’Connor is in very poor health, and I’m sure could not have done that movie.
Spike: Carroll O’Connor’s deceased.
Tom: Wait, hold on. What?
Spike: Carroll O’Connor has been deceased for a number of years now.
Tom: Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Yes!  A perfect example of Tom driving the bus off the road and then Spike trying to steer it back in the wrong direction.  Excuse this horrible analogy, but it's the best I can do.
I like you Omar.

Thanks Josh! I'm just going to wait for that to pop up organically in shuffle.

BEST NONVIOLENT THREAT: When Thor from Eastbridge (Grassroots Movement) threatened Tom with "10 years of boredom" by banning the show if elected King of Newbridge.  Scary!

If Julie isn't eligible, I vote for Boring Owen or Henry Owing.  (Never noticed the similarity in their names before.  Appropriate, given their brotherhood in boredom.)

Hmm....I'm starting to think that I'm the only listener who gets an odd kick out of Spike's calls. During the first show of the year, Tom says that he has a Supercaller online ready to kick things off right...THEN:

"FMU you're on the air"
"Hellooo Tooohm..."

That was hilarious to me.

Just as a behind-the-scenes aside; I was on hold that night. I think when Tom hit the wrong button, he really DID hit the wrong button. But I have been wrong before.

Pretty sure you're right, DFK.  Tom's sincere shock at hearing Spike is what made it esp. funny.

Do threats made by Tom count?  If so, I nominate Tom vs. Jack White, 6/19/07:

"I'm not gonna fold like the guy from Von Bondies. I'll give ya a knuckle sandwich. I'll give ya a red stripe ... of blood across your forehead."

BEST CALLER: Paul F. Tompkins (started the year out as a caller, ended as a guest!)
WORST CALLER: Spike (however, he is the most essential worst caller. It would be weird if he didn't call in, so...its hard for me to nominate him)
MOST PATHETIC CALLER: Clark from Venison Stew
MOST DELUSIONAL CALLER: JAMES.
BEST GOMP: Funniest: the guy who got GOMP'D during the Grindhouse segment because he said Tom wasn't funny but instead "has a wit."//Most Epic: HESH (the Kid got him to CALL BACK simply to GOMP him).
BEST GUEST: Patton Oswalt
BEST BEST SHOW RECAPPER: OMAR!
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Eddie (but Julie the drunk is a dark horse candidate for this year)
SADDEST CALLER: JAMES again!
BEST/MOST VIOLENT THREAT AGAINST TOM: Gene Simmons threatening to Behead Tom with his Ax Bass.

Good one.  This call started at 2:16 of the 4/17/07 show should anyone desire to construct a sound clip.
