I applied like a month ago, give or take. To be honest, I sort of forgot that I had, which made this a fairly pleasant surprise after a relatively boring day at the office.
My reasons for not calling is that I usually don't listen live (gasp!). I used to teach Tuesday nights at a college outside of FMU's broadcast range and found that I had gotten really use to enjoying the podcast during my daily commute. While it eases the pain of North Jersey traffic, the downside is my "hilariousness" continues to go unnoticed.
My initial post might have come off as sort of like a "group hug" moment, but it dawned on me (like an NPR "driveway moment" sans Ira Glass) recently how integral the real life audience has become to the show (like when 35 year old August called in a couple of weeks ago) and as a listener who doesn't really participate in the process, I just feel like we owe a thanks, if nothing else to counteract the James' of the world.

ps -- yes, I will be Baltimore for ever. Though, now with the Wire, apparently everyone is a Baltimore expert. Though I doubt all these experts have been mugged as many times...
