Pretty good. It's going to be interesting to see if Boston and LA make the finals because if they do it might bring on a new thought among GM's that depth doesn't matter or at least you don't have to pay for it. It should be fun to see if the team philosophy of the Spurs can beat the star philosophy of the Lakers and Celtics. I'm guessing Stern is hoping that the star philosophy prevails. I kind of hope so too. The NBA's been missing the star studded teams of old because of the cap rules and now that teams have found out how to work around it I hope it works.

As I learned from the strike-shortened season some years back, you can do yourself a great service to just ignore the entire season until at least a month before the playoffs. So many of the players phone it in for months at a time and the season is WAY too long. Sit back, enjoy the NCAA tournament, and then like the Spring thaw, wipe the sleep from your eyes and see what's going on. Sure, there have been some exciting trades this year that may (please please please) spare us another Spurs-Cavs snoozer in the Finals, but if last year was any testament to my theory you would have spent 3 months listening to windbags tirade about the inevitability of the Mavs for no reason.

Although the cupcake dunk at the All-Stars was FANTASTIC. Who has ever incorporated delicious snacks???!!!

The whole dunk contest was pretty good. Also there are only 9 1/2 games between Portland (the 10th seed), and New Orleans (the 1 seed). If they wanted to try a seeded playoff system, this would be the year. I honestly can't remember a season when there is something entertaining about pretty much every team.

The Lakers' bench looks solid though.  That combined w/ them having a bonafide supervillain makes them my pick to win it all, Ceiling Cat help us.

The Suns/Lakers game last night was also good.  Shaq will probably be injured within days though.

I hope not, I took a flier on him in my fantasy league. Speaking of fantasy leagues, is anybody up for a FOT baseball league hosted on Yahoo?

Anybody else? I'll set it up if we get enough and I'll make it an autodraft so we don't have to be online at the same time. Standard 5X5 head to head, bragging rights only no money involved. If you don't know what that means it's easy and we'll explain it later. If we can get 8 or more people to play I'll set it up.

What do you like more about the Cavs? Lebron or that they have a guy who's nickname is Boobie (although he won't be playing for another six weeks)?

i agree that the celtics have certainly been more star-centered than team oriented, they also have developed good young roleplayers like rondo, big baby and tony allen that mean a lot to the team as well. if it was simply garnett and allen added to the brutal team they had last year, i'm sure they'd be an sixth seed in the east at best. in addition to being incredibly lucky in getting k.g., danny ainge has shown he is a competent evaluator of talent and can make a star studded as well as a deep team when given a chance (i just wish they pulled the trigger on the sam cassell deal). i just hope the team doesn't stumble and fall when it counts down the stretch.

oh yeah, count me in on a FOT fantasy baseball league too.

I know that Eddie cracked up our glowious leader by making fun of fantasy sports, but I am heading into year 22 in my league, and I don't care.

I like Sideshow Bob on the Cavs best.

I also think KG has always been a really good teammate, if a little too intense at times. That team was like the perfect storm coming together. A few stars realizing they were in the later years of their career, knowing this and next year are the two best shots they'd have at a title. Imagine that team next year with Rondo one more year mature. It makes me hate Boston even more, especially since the Wizards have their two best players hurt, one of whom might not even be on the team next year. I'm still just happy they make the playoffs every year though, having suffered through those horrible late eighties and nineties teams. I couldn't even go to games when Jordon was playing for them, it was too depressing.

So Dave are you in? Year 22 huh? So you're paying $106 for Lofton this year or you finally throwing him back in the pool?
