Wow. That was not so good. I had a few chuckles, but it was much too precious. It really didn't work as a movie.

This is what I fear about this movie. It seems like a great cast and a possibly great premise, but I am really nervous and am expecting very little. Someone I work with saw it (and he can watch ANYTHING) and he deemed it unwatchable.

I left the movie under the impression that everyone in Passaic, NJ is mentally deficient.

This would be such a cute premise for a really great music video, and it was wasted on a piss-poor movie. Shameful.

I just saw it - not so hot.

That said, seeing Jon Glaser's Jewfro on the big screen will probably go down as one of the great pleasures of my life.

The middle part, with the film-recreations, was ace.
The beginning and the end, not so much.

They re-did Umbrellas of Cherbourg!

EXACTLY. In the same way that Wes Anderson needs to work with writers. Just because you're a genius art director or short filmmaker doesn't mean that you should be running things from end-to-end. It's like having the boom guy doing catering.

I'm not giving up on Gondry as a director, although Human Nature and Be Kind Rewind were awful. I haven't seen Science of Sleep yet, but I've heard mixed reviews on that (mostly bad, though). Should I give it a try? Gael García Bernal is kind of cute, after all, in a compact sort of way.

Fixed...and SoS is kind of like your assessment of its star, kind of cute. But junk food to be sure.

Yeah, I definitely expected more with that after ESOTSM.
