I'm just glad to know that we are finally getting a bar in Greenpoint, especially since all you can find here is Polish beer.

I like the Polish beer alright.  But i thought it was dumb when the dude in the article made the false remark that all you can get in Greenpoint is Polish beer.  There are more beer options in your average Greenpoint deli than in fancy bars in other parts of the country.  He was just making a dumb local reference to say that he lived in a Polish neighborhood.  And then, adding insult to injury, announced they were opening another bar.  What agreat way to make the neighborhood better, another damn bar.  I hope he beat the other six fancy people who had the same briliant business idea as he did in the last six months because there's no way all these new bars can stay open.  Done ranting. Now I'm going to move.

 Bear in mind that I don't speak Polish and that I had a Rutgers professor tell me that I was mispronouncing my own last name in a lecture hall in front of seventy five or so students.

Tough to write out without an IPA font. I think, though
Ż = zh (like Zsa Zsa);
y = vowel we don't have in English;
w = bilabial fricative, like a cross between w and v;
ie = pronounce them separately, kind of like we say 'y';
c = tch.

Probably not all that helpful. I'm sure I don't say it properly, but the poles seem to understand when I order it.
