Great recap, as usual. I, Eric, though meant Tom sounded like Philip Seymour Hoffman playing Buffalo Bill not Hannibal Lector, but I couldn't pull the name Buffalo Bill at the time.

I thought that was spot on, for the record!

This is always my favorite part of the recap:

"Now is the time for us to gather together and celebrate those things that we like and think are fun:"

Always brings a smile!

Man, my story was so awesome in my head!  Thanks for your charitable "semi-funny" description.

I just noted this in the recap.  In the name of accuracy!

At the time the Lecter reference seemed on-target, but now that I think about it Tom's ghoul voice is very (eerily?) similar to PFT's Jame Gumb impression in the Movie Quotes show.  I hope that voice returns soon.

Speaking as a freelancer for Shovel.com, I would like to mention that Linus tried scooping me on reviewing Art of the Slap, even going so far as to tell me he was going to give it a 1.3 as revenge for his treatment during his first call last February. He was eventually overruled once it was discovered that he had not bothered to procure an advance copy and instead had simply attempted to write his review as a 2,300-word conceptual piece about this terrible sandwich he ate the evening his last girlfriend broke up with him. Best Show was mentioned only once, in passing somewhere in the 12th paragraph, as "a talk radio fart smell". After discovering that I wound up reviewing it instead, he threatened to give me "a beating worthy of an 8.5 and possibly also Best New Skull Fracture".

EDIT: oh god I've just written Best Show fan fiction. Help me.

Assoc. Producer Mike mentioned in this show that David Caruso looks orange in CSI. On the first episode of a pay-podcast that I enjoy, someone mentions seeing David Caruso in person and that he was weird looking and orange in person.
Guess its not a filter.

Added a little bit more to this recap, but I'll save you another clicky and just post the main thing below:

Tom went to the Barnes & Nobles and saw Ghostface Killah's long-awaited advice book, The World According to Pretty Toney (MTV Press, 9 pages, $24.99). He was able to read the entire book in four minutes because the format was one sentence on a page (e.g., "Wipe the sleep out of your eyes.") followed by a funny image interpreting said sentence. Tom wonders if Ghost just dictated 30 life lessons during a limo ride. He's a big fan of his music, but he thinks he could have done better with his book. Tom noticed a lot of white space for footnotes and autographs. He has heard a five-minute sample of the hilarious audio version, but he refused to drain $25 from a gift card for a CD. Tom is interested in the Ghostface book with all the fun stories. Ghostface Killah: 1 Tom: 0. Paris Hilton: 2 Tom: 0. Tom is ready to erase the 0 from his score tally by getting On The Air ... (see sample chapter above) on the shelf as soon as possible. He will include a lot of filler, including Notes pages for readers to capture their own thoughts about Mike. One chapter will detail Tom's pre-show preparation of retrieving CDs from the library and wheeling them into the studio on a cart.

Awesome!  I was trying to imagine "On The Air" today.  You have made my daydream a reality.
