The top and middle photo kind of blend together in a strange, yet beautiful way. I had to view them separately to check they it wasn't just one photo. Very cool.

Bottom: Nice bokeh!

(I never realized bokeh was a Japanese word till recently, most Japanese I've asked didn't know it's used in English either.)

Thanks Erika! I suppose Photoshop has ruined us all, but that one's totally in-camera. Here's a group shot I took; I'm crouching just below Death.

This one is only noteworthy for being a video-still from my first video clip shot on the RED camera, which I'm going to start using for all of my video projects.  The original image is about 8 times larger, which is no big deal for a decent SLR but, for video, this kind of resolution is unbelievable.   It represents a HUGE step forward for indie filmmaking.

I barely know what I'm doing with it yet, but this camera is SICK. Someone come to DC and make a movie with me!  (cough...MARTIN)

The RED is a BEAST. I love it, even though I'm really a cameradummy. Even I get how awesome it is and what it means for indie filmmaking (and beyond).

That's a great shot of you, DB.

EDIT: This is just a screenshot from a quicktime file, so the res isn't all that (even though I shrunk it somewhat), but you really get a sense of how well the RED works in a dark environment with only natural light (which in this case meant almost no light at all). The sense of detail and depth is amazing to me. Especially if you compare it to how other HD cams are performing under the same conditions.

Are there jobs in film where you just backup digital files? I worry about my music getting lost, I can't imagine the care that is taken to make sure a movie is never lost. I mean, these original copies need to last literally forever and without a physical copy like film, what are the precautions taken to make sure they aren't lost? Harddrives and Bluray discs?

During the process, harddrives (which can make you paranoid but usually there are good backup systems in place). When it's done the film is usually exported to tapes and/or proper 35 mm reels, depending on what you gonna use it for.

Looks like it'll be too intense for me.
