For a show that was just supposed to be goofy one-liners, the comic styling of Waldorf & Statler have held up really well.

Can anyone see Tom Scharpling in 30 years, sitting in a balcony over Mamma Mia on B'Way? Or some separate sound booth in WFMU 24 hours a day, heckling the dj's?

Coincidently, my little sis just sent this to me. The Swedish Chef used to make my father laugh so hard he would weeze. This is cracking me up too.

The muppets are just too weird and eccentric of a project to be franchised properly.  I remember being blown away as a kid that Disney bought the Muppets.  I'm sure it was a good financial move.  I wonder if Henson Co. knew that the pop culture shelf life of neurotic puppets was about to expire.  Plus, C.G.I. made stuff like the Creature Shop seem outmoded for Big Time Hollywood use.
