Will Destro just be an amoral zillionaire tycoon and Cobra Commander a cave-dwelling zealot who makes a lot of threatening Youtube clips that get leaked 2 years after he records them?

Given that the characters look like they've been remade into a shadowy fascist death squad, I'll say yes, but probably not in the way intended.  This'll probably be like Starship Troopers but overly serious.

Seriously, is there a concentrated effort in Hollywood now to strip every megabudget action/superhero tale of any sort of visual distinction?  Those 80's cartoons may have been primitive but the costuming and general ambience makes everyone in those photos look like they're descending into Spike's dungeon.

Where's the camo? This looks more like GI-Joe: Real European Hero. I never was into GI-Joe so maybe I'm missing something. I just know it by the camo and Sgt. Slaughter.
