The Kinks in 1983, with the Romantics.

Then Bruce Springsteen and REM in 1985. Black Flag in 1986.

Kinks and Romantics was my brother's first concert as well

First that I was taken to was the Beach Boys (sans Brian Wilson) every summer from age 6-13.

First that I went to on my own was the Beastie Boys & A Tribe Called Quest in 94 or 96, I can't remember which.

First arena rock show:

Capital Center, Largo, Maryland, 12/13/1979.

Pete Townsend was wearing combat boots. My brother sneaked in some joints in a Marlboro box.

T.S.O.L. at the Living Room in Providence, RI - Summer '87. This was on the tour for Hit & Run, when they went all G'n'R hard rock, but they still played some stuff off of Change Today? & Revenge, which me and my pals were obsessed with after hearing their tunes in a skate video. The March and Holy Cow opened.  I bought one of the tour t-shirts, but gave it to Rachel Barnicoat (that girl could really rock the tretorns), who I had been deeply in love with (unbeknownst to her) since we took 7th grade Social Studies together with Mr. Bernardo (he looked like Quaddafi) two years previous. I wanted to impress her with how "rock" I was for having gone to see a real band at a real club. Alas, she went out with Brian Haines instead (baseball team, bmoc-type). Oh well.

I was also in love with a Tretorn-rocking girl named Lynne something, and I also wished that she was impressed that I went to hardcore shows, and I'm sure she didn't care.  That's about all I can remember.  I wish it was because I've moved on, but I'm probably just burnt.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Pink Floyd Laser Allin during the Momentary Lapse of ReasonOutlaw Scumfuc tour.  The couple behind us dropped acid and literally did not move for the 3 hour show.  If they hadn't been standing, I'd have assumed they were dead.

Fixed!

Q: Why should I be safe from this unnecessary, only (very) slightly amusing fixing?  A: I shouldn't!

My first concert was Nirvana in Syracuse. There were so many collage goons there that Nirvana stopped playing and walked off the stage. Kurt Cobain shouted something like "You guys are assholes! We got your fucking money! You can leave whenever you want!" They coaxed him back onstage, he played lithium and the lights came on. The whole thing probably took 30 minutes.

She shouldn't be because I distinctly remember feeling that sense of despair a young girl feels when she's in love with 3 pinpoints of light, also known as Joey, Jordan, and Johnnie.
Also, that sense of guilt for my poor  father who didn't have a ticket and had to wait in the parents' section.  He said he didn't mind, but I still felt bad.

Fugazi, at Bogart's in 1991 or 1992. It was also the first time:
1) I wore hot pants in public.
2) I begged for money.
3) I snuck out of the house through the basement window.
4) I got a guy's phone number on a match pack.
I have a long history of booing

I hope you didn't weigh 500 lbs. then if you were wearing hot pants.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.
