Yeah, 5th generation is the way to go. Those things are collectors items if they're new.

Jordan 4's aren't bad either especially if you plan to actually wear the suckers.

I wanted the 5's when I was in 4th grade and got the 6's (which are also nice, but a little more understated) for my birthday in the 5th grade.

I wouldn't mind getting the retro Nike versions that came out in 2006 (I think), but I think they're out of production now too, so they've gotten just as ridiculous.

If I can't find them for around $100 from a reputable place so that I know they're not knockoffs, I won't be pursuing them. (I have a feeling this is how it's going to end)

Ha.  My fiancee's been wearing the same pair of oxblood docs for the past 10 years or so.  I don't know how that company stays in business.  I've always been a Chucks man myself.  They last about an afternoon.

Yeah, I think I should probably wear Chucks with my tux on our wedding.  Cheesy?  Yes, but worth it.  I'll probably wear morning dress, actually.  Tuxes are too informal.  Or maybe some form of court regalia, or a nudie suit?  Too many options.

ps:  I'm glad that Converse got bought out by Reebok if that's the only way the shoes can continue being made (I stockpiled a bunch of pairs when the rumor was that they were going to go out of production), but GOD DAMN if there aren't too many varieties now.  There are 600 or so different kinds listed on Zappos right now.

They were actually bought by Nike, which helps explain the glut of Converse styles. They also moved production of Chucks overseas. And since it's Nike, they're now most likely made by children.

There are plenty of imitation Chucks made ethically, though. No Sweat makes a good pair.

Oh, jeepers. I just bought a pair - I didn't think too hard about it. I woulda got something else if I'd known they were made by Nike overseas now.

Damn liberal guilt...

I saw 'This Is England' last week, it was unsettling and good in a strange, weird way. Felt more like a documentary then a movie, I guess that was the idea
