Eww, why are you eating Mexican food in Oklahoma? I refuse to believe that there is good Mex food that far north.

Oklahoma City is on I-40 which also passes through New Mexico.  Pretty far south, actually.

Savannah GA is pretty far south but it had the worst Mexican food ever.

Denver is pretty far north but has awesome Mexican food.

edit:  I also once ate really good "pizza pie"(a kind of tomato food) in Oklahoma.

That city has some of the best food on Earth, even if the Mexican is predictably bad.

savannah does have some great food, although the power of tv makes a few restaurants so absurdly popular that no one who actually lives there even tries to eat in them.

Are you talking about the Paula Dean place? I was there for a wedding about a year ago, before I knew who she was, and everyone was recommending this restaurant to us. Upon being greeted by the crowd waiting to get in and then seeing what we'd pay for a meal if we chose to wait the 3 hours, we passed.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Yeah, I lived there for a little more than a year right after college, while my then-girlfriend now-fiancee was finishing up her master's degree at SCAD.  I worked at a coffee shop.  Now she's returning the favor, working at a coffee shop while I'm in school.

Did you go to SCAD, Forrest?

And I never ate at the Paula Dean place, for the same reasons as MoS.  There were plenty of other places just as good.

Southern food does some simple things really really well.  Side dishes are never just an afterthought.  But then some things that are done well elsewhere are botched to high heaven.  Plus, for some reason a lot of southerners insist that barbecue sauce is "spicy."  It's *tangy*, damn it!

no, I worked at gallery espresso. Sentient bean was a cooler place, although the owner of gallery let us yell at rude customers and make drinks however we wanted, which was awesome.
