Good Song, Show On the Pedestrian Side of Things

I've been watching a lot of network tv this week for some sad reason.  I keep hearing good songs on pedestrian-sided shows.

This week I heard

Thirteen by Big Star on How I Met Your Mother.

then I Am A Scientist by GBV on Samantha Who?

...also Hold On Hope on Scrubs

I'm not so into good songs getting ruined by shows, but I guess that's the only way musicians make money these days.  And I guess they're not really "ruined" except the Big Star song on That Seventies Show as covered by Cheap Trick.  Any other examples people?

How I Met Your Mother is not a bad show.  It's on the pedestrian side of things, but it's actually OK, and has a pretty good cast.  So shut it, JJ.

Speaking of GbV, 'Game of Pricks' is used in an episode of The IT Crowd. Unfortunately it doesn't fit your example because it's a great song, great show combo!

it doesnt bother me as much as it used to when i hear really good songs on poor network television.  i imagine some poor slob hating his job, just trying to make a buck, working his way to the position he REALLY wants, and hoards all his free time into a corner, listening to his iPod, and somehow, someone, just happened to walk by and ask him what he was listening to, googled it, and picked the catchiest, poppiest song they liked (they hated the rest of the album).
