I'm outing myself. I LIKE TOOL!

Oh, hey friend-- I like Tool also, because they are so ridiculous and navel gaze-y and prog metal and everything with the goofy time signatures. I saw them a few years ago, and it was the loudest goddamn show i ever was at ... it took 3 full days for the ringing to stop.

There is so much about them I shouldn't like...the antiseptic production quality, the arrogance of Maynard James Keenan, the extended instrumentals that go nowhere.  But for all of that, tracks like "Hooker With A Penis" and "The Pot" get me every time.

Wow. This came out in January and I listened to it maybe once or even half of a time earlier this year and now that I'm giving it the listen it deserves it's hitting me hard. This album is really fucking good.

On NPR, Roscoe Lee Browne reading the short story “Devil of a Curve" by Walter Kirn.  It is amazing.

Then again, Roscoe Lee Browne could read the novelization of "Encino Man" and make it sound good.

Saw them in an in-store appearance about three weeks ago, and me and AFK had to have it. It's real twangy, so you Cynics fans probably won't care for it. Gillian was surprisingly tall, and could just about fit in a mailing tube.

Saw Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings many years ago and it was amazing. When they did "My Morphine" - an obviously sad song - it nearly made me faint with joy.  So lovely.

I am listening to Peter Sarstedt Radio on Pandora and so far it is playing some really good songs. But like always I have to make sure not to give a thumbs up to either Neil Young or Bob Dylan because either one of those will send you into a non-stop country/folk-a-thon.
