A true overlooked classic. It has the anger and ferocity of hardcore, the mind-melting distortion of the best stuff released on the PSF label, and the rock heft of stoner metal, all topped with a guy who can actually sing when he needs to.

Here's a good example:

I'll probably go into the wee hours.

The Michael Shelley Show introduced me to this gem. I've been on sort of a power-pop/college rock kick. This guys songs are pretty and super catchy and kinda Big Star-ish. After a while it may seem like his songwriting is really formulaic because the songs are so consistently great but I think that is just him being a fantastic songwriter.

And this never loses nastalgic perfection:

...same goes for Miracle Legion.

PDP, I learned about Bill Fox from a great, moving profile published in The Believer a few years back. Check it out. Sad story, but it probably led the way to that reissue:

There's a re-issue?

Way Way Down is an all time classic for me.

I ordered the 2LP last week. They say Transit Byzantium will get treatment too.

Oh that's great - thanks for the heads up, Paul.

Seriously, 14 bucks? Wow.

Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

A couple recent listens:

Been on an outlaw/alt-country kick lately.

Really great stuff.  Just the dude and his guitar.  The songs are great and the stage banter is kind of fun.

I have... exactly the same... appreciation for Van Morrison as ever:

I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

WFMU's 365 Day's Project included this session as well and has an MP3 of a few of the songs.

I'm three songs into NPR's stream of Effed Up's "David Comes To Life." Now I feel like a dumby for not pre-ordering this.

Excellent record. One of the greatest live albums ever made. Maybe one of the greatest albums ever, period.

You might still be able to. Matador still lists the BEGN as available, and it's well worth it. In related news, my copy just arrived in the mail!
