Oh, I need a vacation, but for unrelated reasons.  I'm even thinking of going to the beach, which I never do because how dare that riffraff gawk at my alabaster backfat.

Blitz and London in the same sentence?  I thought the Swedes were neutral.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Hey, don't be a Messerschmidt. I'm a Patriot. No need to throw a Tomahawk at me. I'm only Scudding over there to have some fun. Working on a mixtape for the trip - I'm thinking Taurus Woman (Subterraneans), Sidewinder (Lee Morgan), B52s, and various Panzerfaust releases.

H-bomb.

That's funny. Joanna is taking a hiatus from both this board and another she posts to (the PPK) until Sept 22. Apparently she can't stand when boards get meta and start talking about what's wrong with the board and how awesome the board used to be. And that's what's happening on both the message boards she posts to.

I'm sticking around, though.

can anyone think of anywhere worthwhile to spend a day between nyc and Denver by car? My ladyfriend and I shall be doing that drive. Maybe STL?  I drive through there anyway. Or maybe Chicago. We did new Orleans on a road trip between Georgia and Colorado once and it was so worth it, even for just 1 day.

Chicago is definitely worth a day.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Pre-Katrina I presume. Doesn't seem like there's alot to see there right now.

Yeah, maybe 6 months pre-Katrina.  "Lucky" I guess.

It's my understanding that the Old City/French Quarter area is largely unaffected.

I visited old town Alexandria today.   Good place to visit.  It's like the ultimate distillation of the charm of the DC area, at least architecturally.  Not a lot of shops or anything that I would be into.  Nice used bookstore.

I'm either already back from my vacation after four hours, or I haven't started it yet.  I can't decide.

I had a really nice vacation.  I went to AST for the first time, which is a great place to visit but you wouldn't want to live there.  I went to some music blogs, a comic book message board, designed some custom Nikes but didn't buy them, clicked through Stumbleupon a few times, and oh yeah!!  Wrote twelve pages.  Forgot to bring my camera, though.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.
