I've been trying to stick Joe Biden's catchphrase into everyday life to support the ticket.

My girlfriend: "I don't think I'm going to wear the black sweater. I'll probably wear the black cardigan, though."

Fair point. I intended it to be the optimistic thread (the Dems might win = the Dems can and should win), but it could be viewed as the opposite (the Dems could actually pull off a win, although they generally lose presidential races that don't involve Bill Clinton, or something like that). A classic glass-half-full or glass-half-empty example, no?

Well, according to this article, the Dems have it locked. Some really clever mathlete created an algorithm that accurately predicted Bush winning in 04 and it's now picking Obama.

According to the algorithm, being a United States Senator does not contribute to one’s electability for president or vice president, so the Obama/Biden ticket has a total electability of zero. In addition to his 22 years in the Senate, John McCain spent four years in the U.S. House of Representatives, giving him 4 points of presidential electability. However, he divorced his first wife (-110 electability points), so he has a total presidential electability of -106. Sarah Palin has been governor of Alaska for two years, which means she has a vice presidential electability of 2 and the McCain/Palin ticket has a total electability of -104.
