I couldn't tell you what podcast it was on, but I'm pretty sure that was Chris Hardwick telling the story. And I think it's slightly too awesome (TRL is hardly an institution to be respected) to be used as jerk evidence.

He just does his job poorly, mishandles projects, which results in him having to do a lot of spin - where he comes off as a jerk most of the time. He's become the Puff Daddy of comic book editors too, I hear his name and see him giving more interviews about books than the talent who made them. Plus he's just a little too smug in the grand scheme of things I think.

I know he's tried to push his weight around to other warlocks before too, acting like a tough guy and getting in their faces shoving them etc. Plus aren't douche and jerk kind of interchangeable terms?

I propose that the "douche" is a jerk subcategory and that there should be a "douche-jerk" representative.  When it comes down to it, even though I suggested Criss Angel, Joe Francis is pretty much the ultimate DJ.

Penn Jillette is a total blowhard, and I think he plays it up, but I like it when he goes after pseudoscience and quacks and feng shui and whatnot.  It'll take a lot of jerkiness to overcome the bottled water episode of Bullshit, and however flawed that show has been (particularly when they delve into political or value-based judgements instead of unmasking fraud), they plan to devote an entire episode to errors they have made in the course of the series-- admirable intellectual honesty.

But, I prefer my magicians more arcane and scholarly like Ricky Jay, and not all in your face.  Never trust a man whose favorite band is the Residents.

Yeah, wow, I mean, I'm a pretty serious geek and I'm surprised that anyone feels that strongly about him.  Who's next, David Scroggy, VP of Product Development for Dark Horse comics?
