I am a few weeks behind; listened to the August 8th show while I was folding laundry today, and I gotta say, it scared the hell out of me. I was all ready to call 911 on him, when it dawned on me he's done 10 shows since that one. Creepy.

Aren't about 20% of New Yorkers originally from Iowa though?  (Not judging, Seattle isn't much different.)

I love The Dusty Show. Clay Pigeon's radio persona either has, or maintains the facade of respect for every individual he speaks to. It's a refreshing break. Almost as if Mister Rogers addressed only adults, but without a drip of irony or sarcasm.

I listened to some recent shows after reading this, and I think I'm on-board with that show now.

Yeah, The Dusty Show is pretty good, because Clay has this disarming (and sometimes somewhat alarming) level of earnestness about everything.

Just started listening on DFK's recommendation and I'm way into it.  Good stuff.  He's from Iowa, right?  I actually know a few earnest avant-gardist types from Iowa.  What's up with that?

I just listened to my first episode and I agree that it's good. I will say that I was confused for the first few minutes until I realized that Clay Pigeon is not the same guy as Clay who used to host The Pounding System and had a pronounced British accent. I just assumed they were the same guy and kept trying to figure out if this was a character or fake accent.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Let me know when you get the 9/18 show. Holy moley. It's like the hot pocket guy from the Patton Oswalt routine taken to some ridiculous method actor extreme.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Maybe not Iowa specifically, and maybe not 20%, but you've got the right idea.

Congratulations on the new show Grote!  This Sam Beckett stuff is great.  I'm a complete noob/outsider when it comes to theatre, but I love short experimental fiction.  It's the "best" literary form, imo.

Thanks, Angstrom!  It should get interesting-er as time goes on.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Hey Grote,

One crucial question is burning a hole in my cerebral cortex.....

What's your marathon premium gonna be?

Would you autograph my slide rule?

I am totally obsessing about this. Probably a voucher for some theater tickets, copies of Karinne's and my published plays (like, real ones with ISBNs, not the chapbooks I've sent out to some of you guys - not that you don't deserve real copies, but they haven't come out yet), and a CD of weird stuff.  I might also try to make a WFMU shirt that looks like the logo from CATS or has those comedy and tragedy masks, but Karinne might not go for that.

HEAVE HO with that toilet talk! You math people are the #1 corrupting influence on our youth today. Ancient Rome, at the height of it's decadence, was full of mathematicians. That's what I heard.

Clay was, and as far as I know still is, from New Zealand.

Oops, my bad. I really only heard him in the background when Tom would ask him a question near the end of the show and I just kinda guessed at the accent based on the little I could hear. Sorry for the ugly American-ness.
