Well, I enjoyed this while it worked. The scrobbling feature has been sketchy for me. It worked the first couple days I used it, then stopped suddenly. I re-installed Last FM and Windows Media Player and fixed it. Now it's stopped working again.

I'd say it probably has something to do with the disturbing amount of viruses on my computer. I can't even run ad-aware all the way thru. I'm going to be getting a new one soon tho and I'll be back in the game. Thanks again for mentioning this site, it's really cool.

Try checking that the AudioScrobbler WMP Plugin is turned on by going to Tools -> Plug-ins in Windows Media Player.

Thanks! I'm not used to using Windows Media Player. I'm back in business now.

Ted Leo and Jay Reatard have taken over the FOT Last.FM charts!

I think the description should be changed to What Tom is enjoying... sheep! Just kidding, I've been listening to Ted Leo too.

By the way if you have a different player than an Ipod there's a program out called Zenses that allows you to scrobble what you've been playing on your Mp3 player. It's really nice. It is a little slow but cool since I listen to most of my music on my Mp3 player.

Hey Last.fm FOTs,
How obscure are you?

http://mainstream.freevicente.com/

A lot of stuff (e.g., Lil Wayne) is more obscure in the UK than in the US.

Yeah. It's my icon on AST as well. I saw 'chzburger' and it consistently made me grin, so it was on my desktop for a long time. Now I've upgraded it to icon territory.

28.07%.  Radiohead's  extreme uk popularity 103% kind of brought that up.

I think it's funny that mainstream is red (bad) and underground is green (good)

Now is the time for us to gather together and celebrate those songs that we like and think are good.

Ick.  I just joined it.  I can't believe I joined another thing.  It seems complicated and time consuming.  I'm nauseous.  I wanna cookie.  I joined the group though.

I'm 11.1% mainstream.  This percentage is misleading, though, since it appears to be calculated on the basis of what FOT at large have scrobbled, and my own tastes account for little of it (I've barely scrobbled a thing; I mostly just listen to WFMU when I'm online).  Indeed, I don't recall ever hearing some of the bands on the list, and others I downright avoid.

I do like X-tal, though.

1   X-tal  0.00  100 %
2   Jay Reatard  0.23  93 %
3   Ted Leo and The Pharmacists  17.14  60 %
4   Maskull  ???  60 %
5   WFMU and Tom Scharpling  0.03  40 %
6   Scharpling & Wurster  0.03  20 %
7   Talking Heads  31.39  13 %
8   Ennio Morricone  16.24   13 %
9   Ultravox  6.28  13 %
10   The Birthday Party  3.33  13 %
11   Cat Power  35.61  13 %
12   Palace Brothers  1.67  13 %
13   Radiohead  103.57  13 %
14   Wu-Tang Clan  18.42  13 %
15   Add N to (X)  3.22  13 %
16   Steve Earle  4.41  13 %
17   Frank Zappa  19.65  13 %
18   Cheap Trick  10.66  13 %
19   The Damned  7.14  13 %
20   Mogwai  34.10  7 %
21   Eileen  0.25  7 %
22   Q and Not U  8.59  7 %

Nah. Once you've downloaded the software, there's nothing else you need to do - it'll create charts for you whether you log into the site or not. It's just a fun way to see who else is listening to the music you're curious about, or to get mathematically sound recommendations. I'm sure you can meet webcam strippers there, too, but you might have to dig - start my searching for that "My Neck, My Back" song.
