I just spent three minutes trying to think of an aglet pun to no avail.  Time to move on (with shoes).

EDIT: "AG! Let me throw more shoes at that guy?" No...

A classic Bush response when asked about the shoe incident.

It went something like...
"Hey, I don't know what that guys' beef is."

I hate to be the one to break this to you, but if you slow the footage down, you'll see that he was actually wearing/throwing Puma Discs.
This may be the year I will disappear.

Also, I kinda wish the guy had screamed in Arabic, "We will bury you" or something reminiscent of Khrushchev.

He said, "This Is A Farewell Kiss, You Dog," which is what I'm naming my 00's-nostalgia disco-punk revival band in 15 years when I learn how to play an instrument.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I thought it was one of Spike's favorite doo wop tunes.

Leave it to the media to allow this to happen when all the major satirists are on Christmas vacation.

Jon Stewart must be kicking himself.  Yet another example of everything closing so gentile boys and girls can celebrate baby Jesus--so selfish.

Hmm, your 00's-nostalgia disco-punk revival band is missing something JG...

"This Is A Farewell Kiss, You Dog, Yeah!"

Ah, yes, much better now.

I will give Bush this, and I don't give him much.....he seems to be enjoying it

I was more than a little alarmed at the fact that if you watch closely, he starts to crack a smile before the first shoe even hits the ground. How did he know it wasn’t a bomb? Typical frat guy – playing to the crowd when he should be worried about not dying.

Seriously, though, how funny would it have been if he'd gotten beaned right square in the face?*

*Answer: very, very funny.
I'm warning you with peace and love.

Yeah Pat K, that is clearly the most disturbing thing about this.  It's a reminder of how his flippance is one of the biggest indignities this country and people like those in Iraq have had to deal with.  A President can have his people make the appropriate decisions for him, all we really want is someone who can approach grave matters with the appropriate demeanor for pete's sake.  The world wants to be humored with something other than a shit eating grin that can't be wiped away.  I mean c'mon, at least pretend like you care.

He's smiling because it was an inside job.  If you replay the tape, you'll notice what a bare-bones, scripted and vetted group of journalists this is, typical of the Bush Administration; this shoe-thrower was a plant in order to create chaos under which Bush can push through eleventh hour bills and laws that will tie up all future attempts to regulate big business and enforce environmental standards.  Naomi Klein calls it the SOCK DOCTRINE.
