Tool Academy
« on: January 21, 2009, 05:56:13 PM »
Want to watch the show before Tom dissects it. I don't have cable (yes, I know, I'm weird). Episodes 2 and 3 are on the official site. Not episode one. If anyone knows anywhere else on the internet I might find it, that'd be nice. I doubt it matters much in the chronology, but I like to start from the beginning of things when there isn't much stuff to see.

I hate to confess to having already watched both episodes but I'd say you can probably just watch the clips from the first episode and get the gist.
The only Wire I care about is the one that recorded Pink Flag.

Yes, there is no reason to worry about time frame or plot or anything like that. This show could be about 4 seconds long but the details are the gold.

Check out the basketball gif and the part about the chair throw, which is lacking the best part, the words:
"I'm going to throw this chair and you're gonna like it."

O hai, Ziggy Sobotka!

By the way, did that chair throwing troglodyte really say "de-masculate"? I heard emasculate. I guess it was too much to hope for one of these d-bags to use a four-syllable word correctly.
Too soon?

i saw the episode 1 clips on the vh1 site, but never got to episode 2 or 3.

personally, im fascinated by that kind of personality because it's completely foreign to me.  ive never encountered a tool for more than three seconds face-to-face and i make the assumption of "tool" when i see it on television.  im interested in seeing how that kind of pig-headedness is bred and/or maintained.

admittedly, i watched beauty and the geek (im a fan of the geeks) and enjoyed seeing someone become a better, well-rounded person by the end.  id be more accepting of Tool Academy if it was similar to that formula but in the meantime, im putting my feelers out there.

I had no idea what this was and was actually picturing some sort of dumb cross between Bob Villa and Battle Bots.  Or maybe something to do with Maynard James Keenan and the gynecological instruments from Dead Ringers.  Now I can begin to grasp Tom's enthusiasm.

I, too had no idea what this Tool Academy was. Then I saw the photo that K. Kelly posted. Then I went to the recap page. It is going to be hard getting any work done knowing that this is out there and I have to wait to the end of the day to see it in action. And, yes, the basketball gif is gold.

I'd like to see MTV2 explore this one.

You know, I actually saw a guy wearing a fluorescent-colored pair of Wayfarer sunglasses on top of his head and another on his nose like our friend Tiny Tool up there. Those glasses were everywhere at Pitchfork fest.

I've seen a lot of these $190 versions around town. So stupid.
Too soon?

Can we please not contribute to the ratings on this show?

Can PFT do anything to tell VH1 to stop with all of these shows?!

Of course, they are fuel to feed BWE so...I guess it wouldn't be in his best interests...

Brett Michaels on Rock of Love: Bus makes all of these tools look like golden gods. I've never seen a slimier human being in my life! Watching him on that show makes me want to compulsively wash the wig I have sewn into my head bandana.
