WFMU Gold Vinyl
« on: January 25, 2009, 09:47:20 PM »
It crossed my mind today that we are nearing the 2009 WFMU Marathon, but I still never got this special enticement from last year. Just wondering if anyone else has received this yet.

I received it last Wednesday. That's really weird that you didn't get it before I did. Do you want to know what's on it, or would you prefer to remain spoiler-free?
Too soon?

A minimum of $500, some plasma, a little begging, and a residence outside of the New York/New Jersey area.

Excerpted from the included letter:

Quote
We are sorry for the delay in sending this out. We had to wait for the price of gold vinyl to drop to more affordable levels before we could get this thing into production. During the recent meltdown in financial markets, a lot of frightened investors sheltered their money in gold vinyl, so this project's costs temporarily shot into the stratosphere.
Too soon?

I got mine the other day.  No sign of the SSD premium yet.

I got my SSD premium around Christmas! You should give WFMU a call, Sarah.

Yeah, I got the SSD DVD more than a month ago. I'd definitely contact the station, Sarah.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

I got my ssd premium a while back also.  I don't know that it's worth calling the station for.

I ordered Ken's premium (in addition to the Best Show's) and I'm still waiting. Just before Christmas, I sent an email to the station and was told that Ken's premiums are chronically late and would take a while. No biggie - I wanted to give to FMU and the premium was gravy, though it wouldn't be a horrible thing if they let us know.

Ken is the only DJ on FMU that *isn't* an amateur.  For shame.

Anyway, here's hoping that this year's Best Show premium is a totebag, or maybe a plastic "mug."

Someone hasn't been listening to Gaylord Fields' show.

Someone hasn't been listening to Gaylord Fields' show.

Someone hasn't been listening to the rest of the shows on WFMU!

Even the listener hour *isn't* amateurs!

WFMU *isn't* amateurs.

I'll defend this station to my graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavvvve!

I didn't get the SSD premium yet either, as well as two other DJ premiums and the hooded sweatshirt. Over the years usually one item is missing and I don't bother bringing it up because I don't want to sound like an ingrate but, c'mon guys. On the plus side, this is the only gold record I own.
