Glenn Beck
« on: March 20, 2009, 10:07:26 PM »
There are probably not a lot of Fox News Channel watchers on this board. I'm not one myself. But I happened to come across this show while flipping the channels last week and found this slightly disturbing. It's Glenn Beck "crying" on the air. Does anyone know what this is all about?

All I can say is when he started talking, I made it through about five seconds.

I could tolerate him on CNN but I can't stand him anymore. It's like anchors catch the Fox News bug that repels straight thinking people.

On a related note. My college was recently named one of the "Dirty Dozen" by a conservative commentator for having Prof's with liberal/commie/freethinking ideals.

If I understand correctly, Glenn Beck believes in eschatology. This probably explains many of his behavioral tendencies. But I think he may be mentally unstable. Or he's just a great actor.

This guy told viewers of his show to go watch his standup act. While I didn't do that, nor am I a viewer of his show, it tells me that this guy is a pure entertainer in the vein of O'Reilly or Limbaugh. Except less bright than even O'Reilly.

Besides, if you're a Christian who believes in the end times, then two principles should be remembered.

If you think that the end times were foretold, then clearly it's already in motion. I don't know much about the physics of time travel, but I'm pretty sure the text on your Bible won't magically fade away like in Back To The Future.
  • You Should Be Happy.
Not only will you be going up to heaven with eternal happiness, all those damned liberals that you hate so much it gives you a reason to live will be burning in hell like you always hoped. So yay!

The thing that is frightening about pundits like Beck and his ilk is that there are people that take him seriously. It is possible to disagree with someone politically without resorting to histrionics and fear mongering. Apparently this is what people want though. His ratings are huge.

I'd say congratulations about your college being in this commentators crosshairs, so to speak. I've come to believe that if the so-called right-wing blogosphere, or the likes of Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly or Michelle Malkin are complaining about something, it's worth checking out, and might be a great thing.

Agreed. In my years of college, I had professors that were liberal for sure. However, I never had one professor discriminate against a student because he or she was of a different political persuasion. I think that suppression of conservative ideals on college campuses is a fallacy for the most part. It may exist in some corners, but I don't believe it is prevalent.

I had a liberal professor refuse to let a conservative student speak during a discussion. I'm not disagreeing with you or anything, but I have seen it happen. It made my stomach hurt.

Here's the whole thing.

I probably should amend my previous statement. I never saw it happen in any of the classes that I took. But as you pointed I guess it does happen sometimes. What bothers me is when any professor espouses any political ideology, be it liberal or conservative. That shouldn't just happen in an academic setting. The fact that a conservative student was prevented from speaking is completely wrong.

I whip conservative students with my belt.

If it's all an act, I suggest he take an acting class.
