I'm curious if any of you actually upload songs that aren't your own; I always want to do this, but it seems dangerous since I am paranoid to the max about my illegal online activity being found out.

I think they took away the upload functionality.

Essentially it's a search service for mp3s all over the internets so when you 'blip' something it's actually a link to an mp3 on some other server.  It's kind of amazing how much you can find when you search for stuff.

you should get some sort of tiny commission if someone buys an mp3 through your link, or at least credit towards your own downloads.

Oh, word? That makes a lot more sense. I had assumed that it was just drawing from the pool of songs users of Blip.fm had uploaded, and that was why it seemed so scatter-shot. And I am indeed always surprised by what is on there.
