Well, you know.  Mid-80s Jersey hardcore.  Not a lot of it stands the test of time.

I found my Rat Cafeteria tee in my cassette deck.

Yowza. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Time to toil in the music library, grab what I can, cull anything that doesn't fit off the list, and put the show together. This is sort of an ongoing thing, but I will post the playlist on my webpage (look under the pic of Billy Mays) when I do air the show.

Again, thanks everyone.

I'd like to second DanB's mention of R. Stevie Moore. He deserves a spot on your show in my opinion.

I dunno if you're referring to Playtime With Jason Grote, and apologies if I'm being presumptuous in assuming so, but that makes more sense than giving R. Stevie Moore a slot on the Best Show.  But anyway, rest assured that we are fans and will be airing some of his work at some point.  We try not to overlap too much with other WFMU DJs but that doesn't mean we can't  do so occasionally.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Mark Kozelek from The Red House Painters.  He has a song called New Jersey and another one called Morristown.
Also, I think members of the Jurassic 5 were from New Jersey.

It's Moorestown, not Morristown. It's an awesome song and one of the only ones I've ever heard about My Area, New Jersey. A lifetime of explaining that I went to school in Moorestown, only to have Morristown thrown back at me, makes me especially sensitive to that type of thing. Mark Kozelek spent some time in New Jersey, hence a ton of Jersey-related songs, but yes, as was mentioned before, he is from Ohio.

Speaking of Morristown...

A question for anyone who knows:

I've read some conflicting reports, but I remember Tom Verlaine mentioning in an interview on WFMU a couple years ago (unfortunately, I don't remember who's show. Gaylord maybe?) and he said something about growing up or living in Morristown. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

Dunno about Verlaine, but I'm pretty sure Rich Myers (that's Richard Hell to you) is from Jersey.

Just reminded from soundtrack thread:  Angelo Badalamenti lives in New Jersey.

Hudson Falcons are a Jersey band. They're great if you're into MC5 inspired working class OI music.
You look like a really healthy Arthy Lang.

A friend of mine saw Trixter at one of those Jersey shore summer extravaganzas ages ago, but he's never forgotten their intro: "Give it up for Trixter!" It's been a running gag of his ever since. At the most inopportune time he'll just say, "Give it up for Trixter!" It never fails to bring a smile. Give it a try.

Don't know and don't want to know how but I got this in an email ---

This should be a delightful show.  I own not one but TWO Trixter albums.

So cool to see this.  Two favorite bands.  I may have seen more Hunchback shows than anyone (except probably an Erg).

Go to the definitive source. Might I even say the ultimate NJ band argument settler?

Give "Armchair Quarterbacks" by Asbury Park Angel a spin. Such sublime yodelling. It's also cool to the that Yasgur's Farm is still breaking new ground.
