Everything about the show, from the title to the premise and even to some of the character's names, make it seem like it should stink. And I avoided it because of that. But I caught an episode and have watched a few since, and it feels like it's right on the cusp of being really good if they can get the tone right and maybe open it up a little more.
I didn't realize the Andy Richter Controls the Universe people were behind it. My biggest problem with that show was that all the funny stuff happened in cutaway dream sequences instead of just running with it, and that's something that this show sidesteps: they just go ahead and have insane people do insane things. I think it reminds me most of one of those forgotten '90s NBC shows, Working, which I also kind of liked and felt was always just on the edge of really pulling it together. The network messed around with that and then dumped it, so hopefully this will have a better fate when it comes back.
