The Best Show saved my sanity this week

Dear Tom -

This Wednesday I had to fly from Philadelphia to St. Louis for a business trip, and so I purposely did not listen to the show Tuesday and saved the archive version on Wednesday morning so that I'd have something pleasant to distract me from all that is the opposite of pleasant.

Turned out that my 3:30 flight was delayed to 5:40 as soon as I got to the airport, then to 7, then to 8, and finally departed at about 9:30 p.m.  I spent about 7.5 hours in PHL Terminal E.

Since I knew that things were going massively South from the get-go, I rationed the 3 hours and 20 minutes (bonus time!) into roughly 40 minute chunks, allowing myself an additional dose only when I couldn't take the pain anymore.  By the time you and the almost impossibly charming Ms. Mann were wrapping things up, I was just about ready to board, and I managed to do it all without getting hammered on airport booze.

So, thank you, Tom.  You are doing important work.

BTW... I think you might have a little crush on Aimee Mann.  Or maybe I'm projecting...  not sure.

Your pal,
not that James

Did you go to Chickie's & Pete's?

I was in Philadelphia this past week and I have to say that the Reading Terminal Market may very well be my favorite place on Earth.

I was in Philadelphia a week ago and found it impossible to get hammered on the airport booze. $5 gin and tonics? Wait whuuuuuut?

I have had some sanity saving Best Show experiences. For example, the 6hr mega show podcast helped me forget about a particularly nasty health scare for a bit that otherwise wrecked June.

I'm all OK now, though.
