Narduwar on the new WFMU schedule!
« on: October 05, 2009, 12:44:51 PM »
Did we know about this earlier, or were we (I mean me) out of the loop on this one?

Nardwuar's on the directory, but I don't actually see him on the schedule.  What day, time?

Yep! God bless that goober. Also, is he the dork Canadian Dick Clark or something? I was thinking "hmmm ... he's been around a long time"... He's 41 years old for crying out loud and he looks like my kid brother in 9th grade before he shot up to linebacker proportions.

I must admit to not being familiar with Narduwar before his call to the show tonight. Is it just me, or does he sound like Michael K from the Cynics on fast-forward?
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

His Best Show appearance tonight totally caught me off guard, his raw and pummeling conversation style frankly wore me out. My assessment of him was dim, because I didn't understand. Oh what a fool I was to forget the literal truth that Tom Is Extremely Rarely Never Wrong. I just went and looked at the videos beyond the one I watched before* and I've come to the conclusion that Narduwar has clearly got The Juice. I'm embarrassed I didn't catch it immediately.

Furthermore, I think this initial reaction of mine is possibly just the first stage of the trick he pulls, an extended "SO, WHO ARE YOU?" with a microphone in your face. If so, I can't wait to see what else he's gonna pull out of that damn bag.

*The one Tom posted. At least I THINK it was Tom and I THINK that it was on the S&W blog. Can't be bothered to do more than asterisk it.

There's a dearth of hyperactive people on WFMU. Therefore, I think Nardwuar will make a fine addition to the station lineup.

And I agree with you, mos, he does sound like a sped up Michael K.

Am I the only one who is nonplussed with Narduwar?

Why is he funny? I support his happy/de-pantsing interviewing of the 'Celebs', but I don't laugh.

Am I wrong?

Doot-diddle-doot-doot?   ???

My favorite part of Nardwuar's Best Show appearance was that he KEPT SAYING JW's name, and you could hear Tom struggling between doing his usual "Who's that?" and being courteous to a guest who he clearly admires. His whispered, mumbled answers to questions about JW made me laugh even while I felt uncomfortable for him.

I watched a youtube video of one of his interviews and for the first few seconds I could've sworn he was a JW character. I was very confused.

Yep it was a classic Nardwuar interview. I'd lay money on him knowing that Wurster isn't mentioned on air.

You are ape-eared MoS. They don't even look alike:

I don't know who that tranny hooker shaking Nardwuar's hand is though.
