Hmm. In that case I'll swing by closer to 7 as opposed to away from it.

I'll be at the Record Fair tomorrow bright and early to see the Scopitones!  I'm driving in from Philadelphia for the day.  Anybody know anything  anout parking around the Record Fair?  Cost?  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  This is my first Record Fair and I'm very excited!

I want to see the Scopitones too - it's been way too long. I had a fuck-ton of them on a VHS tape and I lent it out.

If I can get my fat ass out of bed at a reasonable hour I'll see you there ...you gonna stick around for FOT snuggies later?

People, if you see anyone who looks remotely like Malcolm Jamal Warner lurking around the record fair, make whatever excuse you have to to talk to them and if it is spike, twitpic that shit!

What time is the best time to arrive, then, the fun/posse?

I"m not sure we'd gotten that far, really - Record fair closes at 7, right? Like, sometime then? Or earlier if people need to eat? Some people are volunteering till 7 so it's all kind of loosey goosey. We all need walkie talkies for tomorrow.

The plan for now is that rec fair (and a bunch of volunteer shifts) end at 7, so people should get their dinner on if need be and then meet at a bar. The bar in the running, as Auntie Christina helpfully mentioned, is WXOU, but we will reconfirm. Hit me up at twitter dot com slash justsheano around 745 or 8 for clarification.

I'm volunteering in the AV room from 1-4, then cramming my shopping (and rubbernecking at Terre T's live set) into about an hour or so afterwards.  Then I gotta run out because I have family in town, though my brother & sister might come to the record fair.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

DfK, i'm sorry to disappoint you, but i went yesterday and bought NO records. I was taking my volunteering shift so seriously I didn't have enough time!

Great meeting all of you that came out... have fun, everybody who's going today... now you all have to spend two bucks, one for me and one for DfK!

Now that the fair is winding down, I would love to hear what people got.

I got The Sonics' first album, Captain Beefheart "Lick My Decals Off, Baby" and a 45 of Wings "Let 'Em In."

I feel pretty lame with what I got, but I do want to limit my LP collection to evergreens that I can listen to over and over -- I have a hard drive that I can fill with musical oddities.

Anyhow:

-The 4 LP set of Nuggets (this marks the first time I've bought multiple editions of the same album -- I already have the 1976 2 LP edition with the Kelley Mouse Studios cover that looks like an issue of Zap Comix, but basically has what's on the first CD, and am keeping it).
-John Coltrane, My Favorite Things
-Miles Davis, Birth of the Cool
-Johnny Cash, Live At San Quentin
-The Clash, Sandinista
-Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Rust Never Sleeps and Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere (note that I got used copies of BOTH of these records and did not get suckered into the overpriced 180 gram reissues at the Warner Records table)
-The Velvet Underground, ...And So On

Yawn, I know.  If I was really cool, I'd collect 45s.

Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I don't know shit about rare records and don't really care, but I bought some pretty sweet ones. Got EVOL, Undertones s/t, New Day Rising, Stands for Decibels, and The Cramps' Psychedelic Jungle.

Since I couldn't go to the record fair, I went nuts on Discogs instead and ordered a bunch of soul 45s and early 80s r&b. It's not the same, but it's something.
