I guess as a consumer of their products, I feel that they don't even need advertising. the fact is that I have pretty much only worn Levi's during jeans phases, going all the way back to my teenage years. I'm one of those American Classics bozos: I like converse, levi's, budweiser, etc. (even though they are all now produced by/ owned by foreign entities) because it connects me somehow with this time when the USA was (seemingly) on an upswing, rather than on the decent. Might have something to do with my first memories being of the bicentennial.
Watching that Alien commercial that scratchbomb posted, definitely hit me emotionally. I haven't seen that commercial in close to 30 years, yet it hit me as being so familiar and nostalgic and comforting (I could almost feel myself in the family room watching it during saturday morning cartoons). It's crazy how this stuff stays with you.
Don't get me wrong, I am not Mr. Adbusters here. Advertising has it's place in our economy. It was just that this commercial seemed to hit a few key notes that resonated with me. It's more that I hate the fact that I like it.
